Features

The Rolling Mavericks Ultralight Enduro Trail Jack is a device used for raising a motorcycle’s front or rear wheel off the ground so you can perform maintenance.

We got one to use with our Honda CRF300Ls on our round the world trip. Our previous Yamaha XT660R had a centre stand, which made life easy, but since getting the CRFs we had to figure out a quick and safe way of getting the wheels up, without laying the bike on the ground every time. Thankfully, we found Rolling Mavericks.

The Enduro Trail Jack weighs in at an impressive ultralight 123 grams and is made using 6061 T6 aluminium making it both incredibly light and strong as it’s able to support bikes up to 240kg.

The jack also has a clever design. The tubes slot inside each other and the foot and top bracket are both detachable so the whole set can be packed away minimally and is 250mm at its smallest length.

It comes with spare O-rings and a Velcro strap for your brake lever when the bike is being lifted and a neat case for these parts too.

What’s good?

We need to be able to remove both the front and rear wheels of our bikes to replace the inner tubes while travelling. Punctures happen, it’s the way of travel (and sometimes they happen a lot).

And the Trail Jack completely takes away the stress of figuring out how to get those wheels off the ground. It’s so easy to use. You simply put it to the right height and slide it into position while pushing your bike with the other hand.

There’s an excellent instructional video on the Rolling Mavericks website that explains how to lift the bike, so we won’t go into detail here.

We love this product because of its weight, size, strength and how easy it is to use. It slots into our toolkit and we wouldn’t travel without it. It’s an essential bit of kit for any adventure rider.

What’s not?

When we were preparing our kit list for shipping our motorcycles to the States, we posted about the tools and gear we were carrying and our newly acquired Rolling Maverick’s Trail Jack. We received a few comments from fellow travellers showing homemade versions using crutches and asking why we didn’t make one instead.

Our answer is, why would you? This is exceptionally well-made, so much thinner and compact than a sawn-off crutch and cost under £40! There are no negatives.

Round-up

The Rolling Mavericks Enduro Trail Jack Stand is an ingeniously easy way to raise your motorcycle’s front or rear wheel of the ground. It’s ridiculously light, ultra-strong, packs away into your tool kit and makes servicing, chain work and fixing punctures a doddle. It’s a must for any adventure bike or off-roader without a centre stand.
