Rocky Creek Motorcycle Tyre Pump Review

This review is based on our own personal experiences using the Rocky Creek Tyre Inflator on our round the world motorcycle trip.

A tyre inflator is an absolute must for overland adventure motorcycle travellers – especially if you’re running tubed tyres.

You’ll need it for inflating your tyres back up after changing a tube out or fixing a puncture. And if you’re constantly flitting between road and off-road and adjusting your tyre pressures, a portable inflator makes airing up again easy.

We set off for our round the world trip on 1^st January 2018 and carried a Rocky Creek MotoPressor pump with us from day one for six years. And we needed it – a lot. We’re not sure what we would have done without it!

You can read our full review of the original pump here below. But as of 2023, RC has updated and upgraded their pump and released the V2. So, we thought it might be time to swap ours out and try their latest offering.

What’s new

The main difference is the pump is now not exposed like before and is in a plastic protective casing. This makes it easier to handle and less likely to rust or face damage from dust and water ingress.

The pump itself weighs 345g and the complete kit is at 545g. It’s now 100 x 74 x 37mm. So, it’s both lighter and smaller than the previous model.

There’s a cool built-in checking valve. That means I can attach my pressure gauge to the pump and check what pressure I’m at without having to take it off, check and reapply.

The hose is now a screw on type, for a tighter and more secure fit.

What we like

This motorcycle tyre pump is tiny. It packs up small in a neat case, is ultra lightweight and can pump to over 130 psi and will inflate a 150/70 R18 tyre from 0 to 31psi in 3 minutes.

It will save your butt if you’re caught out with a flat. We often meet people on the road with small hand operated bicycle pumps. But none of them have ever tried using it to pop their beads back on. Trying that once with a hand held is enough to make you never want to try it again.

Round up

If you’re doing any sort of adventure riding, grab one of these. They’re the best in the business, affordable, exceptionally tough and well made, powerful, light and small. They’re a must.
