Outback Motortek Honda CRF300L Crash Bars Review

Canadian/Hungarian brand, Outback Motortek were our go to for all things protection when preparing our Honda CRF300Ls to take over as our round the world bikes.

The 300s have a weak point in their poke-out radiator. We opted for a radiator brace, but in a hard fall, would need something more, so we got the Outback Motortek crash bars.

We went for these because they fit with the Outback sump guard for the 300s. You can find knock off crash bars for these bikes online, but it’s very unlikely (after reading many reports on it) that they’ll fit with your bash plate – and it’s even more unlikely that they’ll be as well made, tough, strong or well thought out as Outback Motortek’s.

The crash bars use hand MIG welded mild-steel and 22mm steel tube with 2mm wall thickness. The bars come with replacement bolts so you can remove the OEM ones and fit these and a brace that extends across the front of the bike.

The construction is solid and once fitted they look and feel bomb proof. They protect the vulnerable points on the CRF including the radiator so you can wring the throttle without worrying.

Another reason we love the crash bars is so we can fit crash bar bags. They easily attach to the shape of the Outback’s.

The only downside for the bars is the weight. They are surprisingly heavy. But, they’re there to do a job and when long-distance travelling, it’s far better to have a few kgs up front than a damaged chassis.

Overall, we’re impressed with the Outback Motortek Crash Bars. They’re solid, tough, well thought out and designed and we’re confident they’ll protect our motorcycles.
