Mad or Nomad Motorcycle Adventure Round the World Route Map

This is our latest map as of 1st January 2023. We started in the UK and headed east towards Japan. The red line is where we’ve ridden so far and the blue line is what’s left to go. It gets a bit muddled in Africa, the Middle East and India – but we’ll figure that bit out later.

Our Round the World Motorcycle Trip FAQ

Here’s a bunch of the most frequently asked questions we get about our RTW trip.

We left on January 1st 2018. Unfortunately, we left during the middle of Storm Eleanor, which in hindsight was ridiculous, but we had been putting our trip off so much that we were determined to go. Our first blog post sums up how bad that decision turned out to be…

We set off with no timeframe and no return date. At the time of writing this FAQ, we’re in 2021 and had been on the road nearly three years riding from the UK to Japan and then onwards through Southeast Asia. Covid had hit and put our plans on hold. So, based on that, perhaps another four, five or ten years before we get the whole way round the world – which is still our plan.

Check out the About page and take a look at our route for more info.

We wrote a dedicated guide just to answer this question because we get asked it so often.

Our How to Go on a Motorcycle Adventure guide is an introduction to bike travel. It explains what you need to know, how to prep and what to expect. Once you’ve had a read of that, you’ll find loads more detailed guides for specific areas of bike travel in our Guides section such as riding gear, luggage, packing, adventure motorcycles and much more.

If you’re looking to go on a round the world trip, then we also have a dedicated Guides section on RTW travel too that explains everything you need to know.

We are building this site to be a detailed resource to help you prepare for and go on a motorcycle adventure or even round the world.

But, if you can’t find what you’re looking for here, don’t worry. Just visit our Contact page and send us an email. We’re always happy to help fellow motorcycle travellers.
