You’ll never know what handy truly is until you get a motorcycle handlebar bag! Years ago, I test rode a Ducati Multistrada Enduro for MCN on its launch and it came with a handlebar bag – at first I thought why is this useless contraption even on here? By the end of the day, it was an absolute game changer and I’ve been a convert ever since.

Motorcycle handlebar bags are ingenious little storage devices and the Mosko Moto Gnat is our favourite.

They’re an excellent alternative to bulky tank bags if you just want a small amount of additional and exceptionally easy-to-reach storage space for those nick-nacks you don’t want to keep in your pocket.

The Gnat easily and universally mounts to any handlebar with its included straps. You get two compression straps either side to reduce its depth, it’s made from Nylon, is tough and durable and has a port in the bottom corner to run a charging cable through.

Open the Velcro flap and you’re met with two zipped pockets. The large one has an additional mesh pocket inside and the smaller pocket at the front has a fleeced liner for sunglasses or your mobile.

What’s good?

Both Alissa and I have a Gnat handlebar bag on each of our bikes because they make a world of difference when travelling.

All those little finicky items you don’t want to keep in your pocket can be popped away within seconds and reached with a gloved hand. We often put our phones in there to charge them, carry snacks, ear plugs, sunglasses, hand sanitiser, receipts, spare change, toll booth tickets, passes etc…

What’s not?

There’s only two things to mention here. Firstly, it would be brilliant if at least one of the pockets were waterproof. And secondly, it is somewhat pricey. However, it’s made by Mosko – who are renowned worldwide for their exceptionally high-level build quality – so you’re paying for something that’s made to last (forever).

The Mosko Moto Gnat Handlebar Bag is a brilliant bit of luggage. Once you try a handlebar bag, it’s hard not to have one. It doesn’t get in the way like a tank bag does, provides an easy access stash compartment that you can reach without having to dig in your pockets or panniers and is perfect for touring, trail riding, adventure riders and long-distance travellers.
