Hydaway Collapsible Water Bottle Review

This review is based on our personal experiences using the Hydaway collapsible water bottle on our round the world motorcycle trip.

We’ve been using the Hydaway collapsible water bottle for several months while riding through Africa on our round-the-world trip. We wanted to try it out as it’s a space saving bit of kit, and that’s seriously important for lightweight motorcycle travellers.

Features

The Hydaway Collapsible Water Bottle is designed to fold down flat when not in use, making it perfect for riders who need hydration on the go but can’t spare the space for bulky bottles. It’s perfect for riders who want a bottle that they can pack away and pull out for day hikes and trips off the bike, and then put it away when back on the bike.

What we like

The Hydaway Collapsible Water Bottle is a space-saver. This bottle folds down flat so it can be tucked into panniers or even a jacket pocket. We use it constantly when we’re off the bike: walking around town, hiking, or popping to the shops. It’s big enough to carry a decent amount of water for a day trip, yet light enough that you barely notice it in your kit.

The silicone body feels tough and flexible, and the flip-up spout makes it easy to drink on the move. We also appreciate that it’s dishwasher-safe, which is handy when you’re back at base. The real beauty, though, is how small it packs down—once empty, it folds flat and disappears into our pannier front pocket until we need it again.

We’ve been impressed with the build quality. Our bottle has already had some serious usage and has handled being stuffed into bags, dropped, and refilled countless times without leaking.

What we don’t like

The silicone body can feel a little floppy compared to rigid bottles, especially when half full.
Collapsing it takes a moment—you need two hands to fold it flat properly.
We like the fold-up straw, but if the bottle is full and you really shake it hard, you can see a few drops flicking out of it. So it’s best to store upright on hikes etc.

Verdict

The Hydaway collapsible water bottle is a great space saving device. It’s lightweight, collapsible design and practical capacity make it a go-to bottle for errands, hikes, and exploring towns.

If you ride and travel light, this bottle earns its place in your panniers. It’s one of those small investments that pays off every time you step off the bike
